Deux guerres israelo-palestiniennes font rage dans la region. La premiere est la lutte de la nation palestinienne pour se liberer de l’occupation et pour son droit a un Etat independant. Toute personne honnete se doit de soutenir cette cause. La seconde est menee par un Islam fanatique, depuis l’Iran jusqu’a Gaza et depuis le Liban jusqu’a Ramallah, afin de detruire Israel et pour chasser les juifs de leur terre. Toute personne honnete devrait abhorrer une telle cause.<\/p>\n

Yasser Arafat et ses hommes menent de front ces deux guerres en meme temps, pretendant qu’elles n’en font qu’une; les kamikazes, a l’evidence, ne font pas de difference. La plus grande part de la perplexite du monde a l’egard du Proche-Orient, la plus grande part de la confusion des Israeliens eux-memes se nourrissent du saut de l’une a l’autre guerre. Des partisans sinceres de la paix, en Israel et ailleurs, sont souvent conduits a des positions simplistes. Soit ils defendent l’occupation continue de la Cisjordanie et de Gaza au motif qu’Israel a ete la cible d’une guerre sainte musulmane depuis sa fondation, ou, au contraire, diabolisent Israel au motif que seule l’occupation empeche une juste et durable paix.
Un autre argument simpliste autorise les Palestiniens a tuer des Israeliens sur la base de leur droit naturel a resister a l’occupation. Un contre-argument non moins simpliste autorise les Israeliens a opprimer tous les Palestiniens parce qu’un jihad a ete decrete contre eux.<\/p>\n

Ces deux guerres sont ici menees. L’une est juste; la seconde est injuste et inutile.<\/p>\n

Israel doit cesser la guerre dans les territoires palestiniens. Il doit commencer a renoncer a son occupation et a evacuer les colonies juives qui ont ete deliberement implantees au coeur des terres palestiniennes. Ses frontieres doivent etre tracees, unilateralement si besoin est, en suivant la logique demographique et la necessite morale de renoncer a gouverner une population hostile.<\/p>\n

Mais une fin de l’occupation entrainerait-elle la fin de la guerre sainte musulmane contre Israel ? Nul ne sait… Si le jihad cesse, les deux parties seraient en mesure de negocier une paix. Dans le cas contraire, nous devrons fermer et fortifier la frontiere logique d’Israel, sa frontiere demographique, et continuer a nous battre contre l’Islam fanatique.<\/p>\n

Si, en depit des visions simplistes, la fin de l’occupation n’entraine pas la paix, nous n’aurons plus, du moins, a ne mener qu’une seule guerre. Non une guerre pour l’occupation totale de la Terre sainte mais une guerre pour notre droit a vivre dans un Etat juif souverain et libre sur une partie de cette terre. Une guerre juste, une guerre sans autre choix. Une guerre que nous gagnerons. Comme tout peuple qui s’est vu contraint de lutter pour ses foyers, sa liberte et sa vie.<\/p>\n
