JERUSALEM \u2013 Christians can continue living safely in the Gaza Strip only if they accept Islamic law, including a ban on alcohol and on women roaming publicly without proper head coverings, an Islamist militant leader in Gaza told WND in an exclusive interview. <\/p>\n

The militant leader said Christians in Gaza who engage in \u00ab\u00a0missionary activity\u00a0\u00bb will be \u00ab\u00a0dealt with harshly.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n

The threats come two days after a church and Christian school in Gaza was attacked following the seizure of power in the territory by the Hamas terror group. <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0I expect our Christian neighbors to understand the new Hamas rule means real changes. They must be ready for Islamic rule if they want to live in peace in Gaza,\u00a0\u00bb said Sheik Abu Saqer, leader of Jihadia Salafiya, an Islamic outreach movement that recently announced the opening of a \u00ab\u00a0military wing\u00a0\u00bb to enforce Muslim law in Gaza. <\/p>\n

Jihadia Salafiya is suspected of attacking a United Nations school in Gaza last month, after the school allowed boys and girls to participate in the same sporting event. One person was killed in that attack. <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0The situation has now changed 180 degrees in Gaza,\u00a0\u00bb said Abu Saqer, speaking from Gaza yesterday. <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Jihadia Salafiya and other Islamic movements will ensure Christian schools and institutions show publicly what they are teaching to be sure they are not carrying out missionary activity. No more alcohol on the streets. All women, including non-Muslims, need to understand they must be covered at all times while in public,\u00a0\u00bb Abu Asqer told WND. <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Also the activities of Internet cafes, pool halls and bars must be stopped,\u00a0\u00bb he said. \u00ab\u00a0If it goes on, we’ll attack these things very harshly.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n

Abu Saqer accused the leadership of the Gaza Christian community of \u00ab\u00a0proselytizing and trying to convert Muslims with funding from American evangelicals.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0This missionary activity is endangering the entire Christian community in Gaza,\u00a0\u00bb he said. <\/p>\n

Abu Saqer claimed there was \u00ab\u00a0no need\u00a0\u00bb for the thousands of Christians in Gaza to maintain a large number of institutions in the territory. <\/p>\n

About 2,000 Christians live in the Gaza Strip, which has a population of over 1 million. <\/p>\n

Abu Saqer said Hamas \u00ab\u00a0must work to impose an Islamic rule or it will lose the authority it has and the will of the people.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n

His comments come after gunmen Sunday attacked Gaza’s Latin Church and adjacent Rosary Sisters School, reportedly destroying crosses, bibles, pictures of Jesus and furniture and equipment. The attackers also stole a number of computers. <\/p>\n

The attack was the first targeting of Christian institutions since Hamas last week staged a coup against the rival Fatah party of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, seizing all Fatah positions and security compounds, essentially taking complete control of the Gaza Strip. <\/p>\n

Hamas officials in Gaza claimed to WND Fatah was behind Sunday’s church attack in an attempt to discredit Hamas to the international community. <\/p>\n

Abu Saqer claimed he had \u00ab\u00a0good information\u00a0\u00bb the attack actually was a robbery aimed at the church’s school computers, even though Bibles and Christian holy objects were destroyed. <\/p>\n

Christians, secular institutions targeted <\/p>\n

Israel evacuated the Gaza Strip in 2005. Since then, there have been a slew of attacks there against Christians and non-Muslims. <\/p>\n

A month before the U.N. school was targeted, Palestinians bombed a Christian book store in Gaza reportedly funded by American Protestants that exclusively sold Christian books. Two nearby Internet cafes also were bombed. <\/p>\n

At the time, Abu Saqer, who didn’t take credit for the attack, told WND the Christian bookstore was \u00ab\u00a0proselytizing and attempting to convert our people.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0As a principle, we believe that Jews and Christians will always do everything in order to keep Muslims far from their religion,\u00a0\u00bb Abu Saqer said. <\/p>\n

Even before Hamas took over Gaza last week, some analysts here called the recent bombings of secular and Christian institutions in the territory indications Hamas may be seeking to impose Islamic rule on the Palestinian population. <\/p>\n

Israeli officials said Hamas in 2005 established hard-line Islamic courts and created the Hamas Anti-Corruption Group, described as a kind of \u00ab\u00a0morality police\u00a0\u00bb operating within Hamas’ organization. Hamas has denied the existence of the group, but it recently carried out a high-profile \u00ab\u00a0honor killing\u00a0\u00bb widely covered by the Palestinian media. <\/p>\n

A Hamas-run council in the West Bank came under international criticism last year when it barred an open-air music and dance festival, declaring it was against Islam. <\/p>\n

‘West can learn from Islamic values’ <\/p>\n

In response to the uproar, Hamas chief in Gaza and former foreign minister Mahmoud al-Zahar told WND in a recent interview: \u00ab\u00a0I hardly understand the point of view of the West concerning these issues. The West brought all this freedom to its people but it is that freedom that has brought about the death of morality in the West. It’s what led to phenomena like homosexuality, homelessness and AIDS.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n

Asked if Hamas is seeking to impose hard-line Islamic law on the Palestinians, al-Zahar responded, \u00ab\u00a0The Palestinian people are Muslim people, and we do not need to impose anything on our people because they are already committed to their faith and religion. People are free to choose their way of life, their way of dress and behavior.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n

Al-Zahar said his terror group, which demands strict dress codes for females, respects women’s rights. <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0It is wrong to think that in our Islamic society there is a lack of rights for women. Women enjoy their rights. What we have, unlike the West, is that young women cannot be with men and have relations outside marriage. Sometimes with tens of men. This causes the destruction of the family institution and the fact that many kids come to the world without knowing who are their fathers or who are their mothers. This is not a modern and progressed society,\u00a0\u00bb al-Zahar explained. <\/p>\n

The terror chieftain told WND the West can learn from his group’s Islamic values. <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Here I refer to what was said in the early ’90s by Britain’s Prince Charles at Oxford University. He spoke about Islam and its important role in morality and culture. He said the West must learn from Islam how to bring up children properly and to teach them the right values.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n

\u00ab La septieme et derniere seance portera sur la derniere section de L’Espoir maintenant qui est a bien des egards la plus surprenante, et qui est, en tout etat de cause, capitale, d’une part parce qu’y est formule de facon assez explicite le programme de pensee de Benny Levy pour les annees a venir, de l’autre parce que Sartre semble y pointer des chemins permettant de depasser certaines des apories de sa propre pensee, par exemple en ce qui concerne la notion d’histoire. On peut distinguer six moments dans cette section : tout d’abord l’enonce de la necessite de restaurer le messianisme dans sa verit\u00e9, enonce qui consonne avec la volonte de repenser la revolution tout en pointant clairement vers autre chose – nommement la tradition juive. Les trois moments suivants
s’integrent dans une discussion des theses defendues par Sartre dans les Reflexions sur la question juive. Le premier traite du \u00ab caractere metaphysique du juif \u00bb, le second du rapport du juif a l’Histoire, le troisieme de son rapport a l’Un. Le cinquieme moment consiste en une reflexion sur le lien de la \u00ab realite juive \u00bb et de la revolution, a partir de la notion de resurrection. Enfin, un retour sur la notion d’espoir conclut cette section et l’ensemble des entretiens publies. \u00bb <\/p>\n

je prends la liberte d’inserer a votre intention ce message recu aujourd’hui de l’Israel Business Club (reseau d’affaires francophone d’Israel), qui a souhaiter lancer une operation conjointe de soutien aux ressortissants francais de Sderot dans la detresse, suite a une visite de la Consule de France au debut du mois de Juin. <\/p>\n

On peut dire \u00ab\u00a0vieux motard que jamais\u00a0\u00bb fort a propos, en esperant ques les elus de l’UNIFAN et de l’ADFI ne resteront pas de glace et emboiteront le pas a cette noble initiative. <\/p>\n

L’ Israel Club for Business a decide de s’associer a l’action du Consulat General de France en faveur des francais de Sderot. <\/p>\n

Mme Colette Le Baron, Consul General de France a Tel-Aviv, a effectue diverses visites a Sderot aupres de la communaute francaise de cette ville constamment \u00ab\u00a0sous le feu\u00a0\u00bb. Elle nous relate, ci-dessous, les cas necessitant une aide urgente: <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0J’ai rendu visite a notre communauta le lundi 4 juin. J’ai ete recue par le directeur du centre culturel qui avait accepte que je reunisse mes compatriotes dans son centre parce qu’il y avait des abris securises (la salle a cote de celle ou j’etais venait d’etre eventree quelques jours avant alors que ces batiments sont tout neufs). J’ai pu rencontrer une trentaine de personnes (certains etaient en dehors de Sderot, d’autres ont eu peur de se deplacer, d’autres enfin etaient dans l’impossibilite de se deplacer parce qu’ils travaillaient). L’ensemble est fortement traumatise (se comparant a des personnes avec lesquelles on jouerait a la roulette russe) fatigues et decourages car ne voyant pas d’issue a leur situation. Dans cette communaute, il y a deja de lourds cas sociaux (famille nombreuse avec des chefs de famille qui ne travaillent pas, handicapes tres lourds), la situation qu’ils vivent n’a fait qu’empirer leur propre situation familiale. 2 chefs de famille viennent de se faire licencier sans lettre de licenciement et ne peuvent par consequent pas percevoir des indemnites chomage: ces 2 familles de 4 ou 5 enfants chacune dont un enfant handicape pour l’une d’entre elle, n’ont aujourd’hui plus rien pour vivre. Sur le budget social que je gere j’ai pu leur accorder un secours ponctuel mais largement insuffisant pour couvrir leurs besoins. Sderot est devenue une sorte de cour des miracles. Je me tourne vers vous pour savoir s’il ne pourrait pas y avoir une mobilisation de la communaute francaise residant en Israel, en faveur de gens si demunis mais qui restent tres dignes pour la plupart. Leur dignite et leur courage m’ont beaucoup touchee.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n

La societe de bienfaisance de Tel-Aviv et de sa region, l’ABTAR servira de cadre financier a cette operation.
