Il y avait une fois deux fr\u00e8res, l’un \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s riche et l’autre tr\u00e8s pauvre. Tous les vendredis le pauvre venait chez son fr\u00e8re pour lui demander de l’argent de quoi nourrir sa famille. Le riche \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s g\u00e9n\u00e9reux et ne refusait jamais rien \u00e0 son fr\u00e8re. Apr\u00e8s des semaines et des mois, le fr\u00e8re riche a eu l’id\u00e9e de rendre une fois pour toutes son pauvre fr\u00e8re riche. Il craignait que si un jour il venait \u00e0 mourir, son pauvre fr\u00e8re serait \u00e0 la
merci de sa femme et de ses enfants et il voulait \u00e9viter cela. Il r\u00e9fl\u00e9chit longuement, afin de trouver une solution qui pourrait rendre son fr\u00e8re riche sans que personne, ni m\u00eame son fr\u00e8re ne le sache. Toute bonne solution se heurtait \u00e0 l’incapacit\u00e9 de son pauvre fr\u00e8re de g\u00e9rer m\u00eame un petit commerce. Un vendredi matin une excellente id\u00e9e lui vint. Il remplit un sac en jute de pi\u00e8ces d’or, de quoi suffire pour toute une vie et pla\u00e7a ce sac pr\u00e8s de son puits qui \u00e9tait juste \u00e0 quelques m\u00e8tres de son magasin. Lorsque son pauvre fr\u00e8re arriva il dit \u00e0 celui-ci:\u00a0
\u00ab\u00a0Cher fr\u00e8re, bien que tu sois arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 temps, si cela ne te d\u00e9range pas, apporte-moi un verre d’eau du puits!\u00a0\u00bb Le pauvre, qui aimait bien son riche fr\u00e8re n’h\u00e9sita pas un moment. Le
fr\u00e8re riche, tout joyeux que son stratag\u00e8me \u00e9tait bien planifi\u00e9 et qu’enfin son fr\u00e8re serait bient\u00f4t en possession du sac plein de pi\u00e8ces d’or, se r\u00e9jouit \u00e0 l’avance de voir son fr\u00e8re ais\u00e9
et ind\u00e9pendant. Il pourrait dor\u00e9navant discuter avec son fr\u00e8re d’\u00e9gal \u00e0 \u00e9gal, comme dans le pass\u00e9 lorsqu’ils \u00e9taient les deux petits enfants et sans que son fr\u00e8re ne se sente oblig\u00e9 envers lui.\u00a0
Apr\u00e8s un moment le fr\u00e8re pauvre retourna du puits avec un verre plein d’eau. Le fr\u00e8re riche l’observa pour voir si le visage de son fr\u00e8re ne cachait pas une joie ou une \u00e9motion.
Mais son fr\u00e8re n’avait pas l’air de cacher quoique ce soit. Il se disait que le fait d’\u00eatre soudain riche d’un moment \u00e0 l’autre, devrait marquer le visage de son fr\u00e8re. Le fr\u00e8re pauvre, apr\u00e8s avoir tendu le verre d’eau, regarda son fr\u00e8re riche, dont l’expression refl\u00e9tait un \u00e9tonnement. Puis soudain, le fr\u00e8re riche prit son pauvre fr\u00e8re par le main pour aller voir si le sac \u00e9tait toujours \u00e0 sa place. Arriv\u00e9 aupr\u00e8s du puits, il d\u00e9couvrit que le sac qu’il y avait plac\u00e9 auparavant \u00e9tait toujours l\u00e0. Tout \u00e9tonn\u00e9, il fit:
\u00ab\u00a0Cher fr\u00e8re, n’avais-tu pas vu ce sac?\u00a0\u00bb Le pauvre fr\u00e8re fit d’abord silence, puis tout gaiement il fit:
\u00ab\u00a0Tu sais, mon fr\u00e8re, lorsque tu m’avais envoy\u00e9 te chercher un verre d’eau, une id\u00e9e merveilleuse me vint.\u00a0\u00bb Le fr\u00e8re riche qui l’\u00e9coutait avec beaucoup d’attention et d’espoir montra le sac du doigt et lui dit:
\u00ab\u00a0Mon cher fr\u00e8re, n’as-tu pas vu ce sac? Le pauvre fr\u00e8re, qui ne savait pas ce que le sac contenait et ne comprenant pas \u00e0 quoi la question de son riche fr\u00e8re voulait aboutir r\u00e9pondit:
\u00ab\u00a0Mon noble et g\u00e9n\u00e9reux fr\u00e8re, lorsque tu m’avais envoy\u00e9 te chercher de l’eau, je m’\u00e9tais demand\u00e9 si je pouvais faire l’aller et le retour jusqu’au puits et te remplir le verre d’eau avec les yeux ferm\u00e9s. Eh bien, je peux maintenant te le dire tout fi\u00e8rement et avec toute assurance, que j’avais r\u00e9ussi cet exploit sans probl\u00e8me et sans m\u00eame ouvrir mes yeux, ne serait-ce qu’une seule fois.\u00a0\u00bb Le riche fr\u00e8re, tout d\u00e9\u00e7u d’entendre son fr\u00e8re aveugl\u00e9 d’une id\u00e9e qui le d\u00e9robe sa chance, il se dit:
\u00ab\u00a0Si son destin c’est de rester pauvre, au point qu’il n’a m\u00eame pas vu l’or, ce n’est pas moi qui pourra lui ouvrir ses yeux et lui changer son sort.\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
