Aussi, d\u00e8s qu\u0092il eut termin\u00e9 ce dossier urgent au bureau, il l\u0092appela, persuad\u00e9 qu\u0092elle \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 r\u00e9veill\u00e9e. Ils bavard\u00e8rent pendant quelques minutes de tout et de rien, de ces mots inutiles et tendres qui remplissent les couples de plus de vingt ans, qui rassurent et consolident jour apr\u00e8s jour une famille unie et banale. <br \/> Simon adorait Rachel. Il l\u0092avait rencontr\u00e9e en France, pays o\u00f9 il \u00e9tait arriv\u00e9 adolescent, quittant une Tunisie natale et ancestrale, devenue hostile et invivable pour ses parents. Sans bruit, ni remous politiques, ni intifada, ni camps de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s, toute cette g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de victimes de l\u0092Histoire avait d\u00fb abandonner, la mort dans l\u0092\u00e2me, ce pays si cher \u00e0 leur c\u009cur, sans qu\u0092aucune instance internationale ne s\u0092en offusque. Sans que personne ne revendique un droit de retour. Ces gens s\u0092\u00e9taient tout simplement int\u00e9gr\u00e9s dans les pays d\u0092accueil, la France, Isra\u00ebl, les USA, <br \/> Pour Simon, c\u0092\u00e9tait tout naturellement la France, car ses fr\u00e8res et s\u009curs a\u00een\u00e9s y poursuivaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 leurs \u00e9tudes. Puis, \u00e0 la faveur d\u0092une opportunit\u00e9 d\u0092\u00e9volution de carri\u00e8re qu\u0092il pouvait difficilement refuser, il partit avec sa famille aux USA, \u00e0 New York, o\u00f9 il habitait et travaillait maintenant depuis cinq ans. <br \/> Simon se leva et se dirigea vers la machine \u00e0 caf\u00e9 de son beau bureau, en rapport avec le poste qu\u0092il occupait dans cette riche firme am\u00e9ricaine. Cette machine \u00e0 caf\u00e9 \u00ab expresso \u00bb lui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 offerte par Rachel, car il n\u0092arrivait pas \u00e0 s\u0092habituer au caf\u00e9 am\u00e9ricain. Il prit un verre et le remplit du liquide chaud et d\u00e9licatement parfum\u00e9. Il se souvint de ce que lui disait son grand-p\u00e8re : \u00ab ia oueldi, le caf\u00e9, m\u00eame mauvais mauvais, dans un verre-verre, c\u0092est meilleur \u00bb. <\/p>\n<p> Simon savait qu\u0092il ne lui restait que quelques instants de r\u00e9pit avant que l\u0092agitation habituelle du bureau ne commence. Il \u00e9tait l\u00e0, appr\u00e9ciant ces instants de calme relatif, savourant son caf\u00e9, debout dans son bureau, et contemplant ce beau paysage depuis la baie vitr\u00e9e : une belle fin d\u0092\u00e9t\u00e9 sur la ville. <br \/> Au loin, une petite tache sombre grossit. Simon pensa, en un \u00e9clair, \u00e0 son enfance ; il lui arrivait parfois, le soir, pendant que son p\u00e8re achetait des journaux avenue Jules Ferry \u00e0 Tunis, de se placer dans l\u0092axe du terminus du TGM et de voir le train en bois arriver vers lui, en ralentissant pour s\u0092arr\u00eater en pleine ville, entre le caf\u00e9 de Paris, le Colis\u00e9e, pr\u00e8s du Palmarium et de la D\u00e9p\u00eache, bref, en plein c\u009cur bruyant de sa ville natale tant regrett\u00e9e.
