Me justifier est superflu, car je n\u2019ai pas le choix, il le faut.&nbsp;J\u2019ai appris qu\u2019outre l\u2019esprit de ce temps, un autre esprit est \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153uvre, celui qui r\u00e8gne sur les profondeurs de tout ce qui fait partie du pr\u00e9sent.&nbsp;L\u2019esprit de ce temps veut entendre parler d\u2019utilit\u00e9 et de valeur. Je le pensais moi aussi et ce qui est humain en moi le pense encore. Mais cet autre esprit m\u2019oblige n\u00e9anmoins \u00e0 parler, par-del\u00e0 toute justification, toute utilit\u00e9 et tout sens.<\/p>\n<p>Empli de fiert\u00e9 humaine et aveugl\u00e9 par l\u2019esprit pr\u00e9somptueux de ce temps, j\u2019ai longtemps cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 tenir cet autre esprit \u00e0 distance. Mais je n\u2019ai pas pris en compte que l\u2019esprit des profondeurs fut de tout temps et sera pour tous les temps plus puissant que l\u2019esprit de ce temps qui change au fil des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019esprit des profondeurs a soumis toute la fiert\u00e9 et tout l\u2019orgueil du discernement. Il m\u2019a \u00f4t\u00e9 la foi en la science, il m\u2019a priv\u00e9 de la joie d\u2019expliquer et de classifier, et il a fait s\u2019\u00e9teindre en moi l\u2019enthousiasme pour les id\u00e9aux de ce temps. Il m\u2019a contraint \u00e0 descendre vers les choses ultimes et les plus simples.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019esprit des profondeurs s\u2019est empar\u00e9 de mon entendement et de toutes mes connaissances, et les a mis au service de ce qui est inexplicable et qui va \u00e0 l\u2019encontre du sens.
