D\u00e9port\u00e9 \u00e0 Birkenau, il est ensuite affect\u00e9 au Todkommando du ghetto de Varsovie, charg\u00e9 de br\u00fbler les morts\u2026<\/p>\n<p>T\u00e9moignage recueilli en 2004 par le M\u00e9morial de la Shoah et la Mairie de Paris. Biographie : N\u00e9 \u00e0 Lyon en 1925, dans une famille juive originaire du Maroc, Maxi Librati est l\u2019a\u00een\u00e9 d\u2019une fratrie de seize enfants, dont il sera le seul d\u00e9port\u00e9. Il grandit dans un milieu populaire \u00e0 Saint-Fons (banlieue de Lyon). Ses parents sont illettr\u00e9s, et la famille suit peu les informations \u00e0 la radio. Arr\u00eat\u00e9 dans un train, alors qu\u2019il \u00e9tait parti avec des amis chercher du ravitaillement \u00e0 la campagne, il ignore totalement l\u2019existence d\u2019une quelconque menace pesant sur les juifs : \u00ab\u00a0Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 mon arrestation [en juillet 1943], je n\u2019avais jamais entendu parler de d\u00e9portation ni d\u2019arrestation.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Envoy\u00e9 \u00e0 la prison du fort Montluc, il tente d\u2019envoyer une lettre \u00e0 ses parents, ce qui lui vaut d\u2019\u00eatre isol\u00e9 dans une cellule, sans nourriture pendant cinq jours. Il est par la suite transf\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 Drancy, puis part pour Birkenau, le 2 septembre 1943. Il y reste trois semaines, avant d\u2019\u00eatre transf\u00e9r\u00e9 dans un camp du ghetto de Varsovie, o\u00f9 il est affect\u00e9 au Todtkommando (\u00ab\u00a0commando de la mort\u00a0\u00bb), charg\u00e9 de br\u00fbler les cadavres. Il attrape le typhus.Envoy\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019infirmerie, il impressionne le kapo par ses talents de fils a\u00een\u00e9 habitu\u00e9 aux travaux m\u00e9nagers et devient gar\u00e7on de chambre. L\u2019avanc\u00e9e sovi\u00e9tique pousse les Allemands \u00e0 \u00e9vacuer le camp en juillet 1944. Maxi est transf\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 Dachau, pr\u00e8s de Munich, \u00e0 l&rsquo;issue d&rsquo;une \u00ab\u00a0marche de la mort\u00a0\u00bb d&rsquo;une centaine de kilom\u00e8tres. Il est lib\u00e9r\u00e9 par les Am\u00e9ricains, le 30 avril 1945 \u00e0 Allach, autre camp de Bavi\u00e8re. Lorsqu&rsquo;il revient \u00e0 Paris, il p\u00e8se 29 kg. Il retrouve \u00e0 Lyon ses parents, fr\u00e8res et s\u0153urs, qui avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 cach\u00e9s \u00e0 la campagne par le patron du p\u00e8re de Maxi, plus tard d\u00e9cor\u00e9 de la m\u00e9daille des Justes. Maxi fait ensuite carri\u00e8re dans le v\u00eatement.
