N\u00e9 \u00e0 Tunis le 19 juillet 1903, Max Debbasch \u00e9pouse Nella Dello Strologo le 8 Juin 1932. Pr\u00e9parateur en pharmacie, il g\u00e8re avec son fr\u00e8re Raoul la Pharmacie de la Gare \u00e0 Tunis. Depuis le d\u00e9but de la guerre en 1939, l’approvisionnement en m\u00e9dicaments de la Tunisie est de plus en plus restreint, aussi se lance-t-il avec son ami Henri Valensi, pharmacien \u00e0 Tunis, dans la fabrication de quelques pr\u00e9parations qui obtiennent l’autorisation de vente du Minist\u00e8re de la Sant\u00e9 .<\/p>\n

Pendant l’occupation de Tunis par les forces de l’Axe, de novembre 1942 \u00e0 mai 1943, Max Debbasch apporte son soutien au r\u00e9seau gaulliste de r\u00e9sistance cr\u00e9\u00e9 en Avril 1941 par Ma\u00eetre Andr\u00e9 Mounier (voir plus de d\u00e9tails dans la notice de son fr\u00e8re a\u00een\u00e9 Guido Debbash). Apr\u00e8s la lib\u00e9ration de Tunis en mai 1943, bien que mari\u00e9 et p\u00e8re de famille, Max Debbasch s’engage dans l\u2019aviation des Forces Fran\u00e7aises Libres. Il sera affect\u00e9, en tant qu’infirmier, \u00e0 la base a\u00e9rienne de B\u00e9ni- Mered en Alg\u00e9rie. Il sera ensuite mut\u00e9 au cabinet m\u00e9dical de la base militaire d’El Aouina en Tunisie, jusqu’\u00e0 la fin de la guerre en 1945.<\/p>\n

La pr\u00e9carit\u00e9 de la situation des Fran\u00e7ais de Tunisie apr\u00e8s l’affrontement des troupes tunisiennes et des troupes fran\u00e7aises de la base de Bizerte en 1961, le conduit \u00e0 quitter la Tunisie avec toute sa famille en 1962. Il s’installe \u00e0 Marseille, il y fait valider son dipl\u00f4me de Pr\u00e9parateur en Pharmacie et travaillera \u00e0 la pharmacie Muselier puis \u00e0 la pharmacie Aubanel jusqu’\u00e0 sa mort le 9 f\u00e9vrier 1971.<\/p>\n

Toujours tr\u00e8s attach\u00e9 \u00e0 son fr\u00e8re Raoul, r\u00e9install\u00e9 \u00e0 Arles, il l’y aidera pendant ses gardes de pharmacien, pour la derni\u00e8re fois le 8 f\u00e9vrier 1971, \u00e0 la veille de sa mort.<\/p>\n

Ses enfants avaient quitt\u00e9 la Tunisie pour leurs \u00e9tudes en France. Guy s’installa comme biologiste \u00e0 Chamb\u00e9ry, Charles, juriste, devint doyen de la Facult\u00e9 de Droit d’Aix-en-Provence et Mich\u00e8le, commer\u00e7ante \u00e0 Digne.<\/p>\n
