Journal (1936-1962), par Albert Memmi<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sp\u00e9cialiste reconnu de la litt\u00e9rature jud\u00e9o-maghr\u00e9bine, Guy Dugas a, pendant de longues ann\u00e9es, entretenu des relations tr\u00e8s amicales avec Albert Memmi. Il fut l\u2019un des rares \u00e0 avoir acc\u00e8s aux archives tr\u00e8s personnelles du \u00ab Franz Fanon juif de la Tunisie \u00bb, notamment \u00e0 son \u00ab garde-manger \u00bb o\u00f9 il entassait les documents les plus divers et les brouillons \u00e0 ne pas jeter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le journal dont il nous propose la premi\u00e8re partie (1936-1962), est v\u00e9ritablement monumental : 85 ans de notes, de r\u00e9flexions, de souvenirs\u2026 Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 conserv\u00e9 tel quel avec les ratures, l\u2019orthographe, la ponctuation et les manques caract\u00e9ristiques de ce genre de document. Il int\u00e9ressera en premier lieu les chercheurs, mais aussi tous les amateurs de la litt\u00e9rature jud\u00e9o-tunisienne.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tout sur Memmi ou presque. Pour ne pas oublier un grand parmi les grands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">N\u00e9 \u00e0 Tunis le 15 d\u00e9cembre 1920, au 4, impasse Tronja dans le quartier juif de la Hara, Albert Memmi s\u2019est \u00e9teint \u00e0 Paris, le 22 mai 2020. Il allait avoir cent ans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fils de Fran\u00e7ois Memmi, bourrelier, et de Marguerite Sarfati, il a pass\u00e9 son enfance et son adolescence dans son pays natal avant de s\u2019installer \u00e0 Paris.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Consid\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 juste titre comme le plus grand \u00e9crivain juif contemporain d\u2019Afrique du Nord, il aura incontestablement marqu\u00e9 son \u00e9poque.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Juif et Arabe, romancier et essayiste, Tunisien et Fran\u00e7ais, Albert Memmi nous a offert, au fil des ans, de savoureux romans comme La statue de sel (\u00c9ditions Corr\u00e9a, 1953 puis Gallimard, 1963 et Folio, 1972), pr\u00e9fac\u00e9 par Albert Camus, Agar (\u00c9ditions Corr\u00e9a, 1955 puis Gallimard, 1983 et Folio, 1991) ou Le Pharaon (\u00c9ditions Julliard, 1988), et s\u2019il s\u2019est essay\u00e9 \u00e0 la po\u00e9sie&nbsp; avec Le Mirliton du Ciel ( \u00c9ditions Julliard, 1990) et Les coplas du jeune homme amoureux (\u00c9ditions Alain Gorius, 2013), l\u2019essentiel de son \u0153uvre se concentre sur ses portraits, d\u00e9sormais objets d\u2019enseignement et de recherche dans de nombreuses universit\u00e9s d\u2019Afrique du Nord, du tiers monde, d\u2019Europe et d\u2019Am\u00e9rique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Albert Memmi, qui, par extraordinaire, a fait partie du Bureau de recrutement des travailleurs juifs quand l\u2019obligation a \u00e9t\u00e9 faite par les Allemands \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9 juive de fournir des contingents de travailleurs forc\u00e9s, a connu tous les rouages du syst\u00e8me. Puis, il a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de partir de lui-m\u00eame dans un camp pour partager la destin\u00e9e mis\u00e9rable des hommes pris dans l\u2019enfer des camps de travail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lorsque les gendarmes frappent \u00e0 la porte des Memmi, c\u2019est par chance, l\u2019ouvrier italien de Fran\u00e7ois Memmi qui leur ouvre la porte. Les gendarmes repartent en s\u2019excusant. Albert a gagn\u00e9 une nuit mais, le lendemain, par solidarit\u00e9, il d\u00e9cide de faire son sac et de rejoindre ses compagnons de mis\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Albert Memmi a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9compens\u00e9 par de nombreux prix. En 2004, l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie Fran\u00e7aise lui a d\u00e9cern\u00e9 le Grand Prix de la Francophonie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">T\u00e9moin privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 de son temps, Albert Memmi aura \u00e9t\u00e9 un grand, un tr\u00e8s grand, une force de la destin\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cette premi\u00e8re partie de son journal intime, \u00ab une \u00e9dition g\u00e9n\u00e9tique et critique \u00bb compl\u00e8te agr\u00e9ablement ce que l\u2019on savait de lui.
