{"id":67401,"date":"2022-10-09T16:54:41","date_gmt":"2022-10-09T16:54:41","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-10-09T16:54:41","modified_gmt":"2022-10-09T16:54:41","slug":"la-synagogue-de-chania-en-crete-par-alain-amiel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harissa.com\/news-wp\/la-synagogue-de-chania-en-crete-par-alain-amiel\/","title":{"rendered":"La synagogue de Chania en Cr\u00e8te, par Alain Amiel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>La synagogue de Chania en Cr\u00e8te, par Alain Amiel<\/p>\n<p>\nLa pr\u00e9sence juive en Cr\u00e8te remonte au moins au 4\u00e8me si\u00e8cle avant notre \u00e8re. \u00c0 Chania, elle s\u2019est d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 pendant des si\u00e8cles au c\u0153ur d&rsquo;Hevra\u00efki, devenu un quartier juif tr\u00e8s actif.<\/p>\n<p>Au XVIIe si\u00e8cle, l\u2019occupation ottomane supprime les lois restrictives et les ghettos impos\u00e9s par les occupants pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents V\u00e9nitiens. On compte alors plus de deux mille juifs et huit synagogues pour toute la Cr\u00e8te. A Chania, les Juifs transforment en 1500 une ancienne \u00e9glise v\u00e9nitienne abandonn\u00e9e en synagogue.<\/p>\n<p>Par la suite, au fil des si\u00e8cles, la population d\u00e9cro\u00eet et en 1940, \u00e0 l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e des nazis, il ne reste plus que 400 Juifs.<\/p>\n<p>Le 21 mai 1944, les nazis donnent l&rsquo;ordre de d\u00e9porter tous les juifs de Cr\u00e8te et le 9 juin, les 276 juifs arr\u00eat\u00e9s sont embarqu\u00e9s sur un bateau \u00ab le Tana\u00efs \u00bb en route pour Le Pir\u00e9e et Auschwitz, mais la flotte britannique le prenant pour un b\u00e2timent militaire allemand, torpille le navire. Il n&rsquo;y a aucun survivant.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 Chania, il ne reste qu\u2019une dizaine de familles ayant \u00e9chapp\u00e9 \u00e0 la d\u00e9portation. La synagogue sera progressivement abandonn\u00e9e et laiss\u00e9e en ruine jusqu\u2019en 1995 o\u00f9 seront r\u00e9colt\u00e9s les fonds n\u00e9cessaires (de Juifs et de Chr\u00e9tiens) \u00e0 sa reconstruction qui aura lieu en 1999.<\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est actuellement une petite et charmante synagogue accompagn\u00e9e de son miqv\u00e9, o\u00f9 chaque mois de juin, des pri\u00e8res donn\u00e9es par le grand rabbin d\u2019Ath\u00e8nes comm\u00e9morent le triste \u00e9v\u00e9nement de 1944 et allument une bougie pour chaque disparu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"syna1\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"bba3bed9-be96-437b-9af5-7e5b61dac981\" src=\"\/news555\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/image_64873271.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Une communaut\u00e9 juive active anime actuellement le lieu. On a pu voir quelques fid\u00e8les dans la cour int\u00e9rieure et dans la synagogue, au pied de l\u2019autel, un rabbin enseignant \u00e0 une toute jeune fille \u00e0 lire et \u00e0 jouer du choffar (voir photos), la corne de belier transform\u00e9e en instrument \u00e0 vent (qui rappelle le sacrifice d\u2019Isaac, sauv\u00e9 lorsqu\u2019un b\u00e9lier va remplacer son corps).<\/p>\n<p>Dans une pi\u00e8ce au dessus, un petit mus\u00e9e relate la pr\u00e9sence juive en Cr\u00e8te et expose des photos retra\u00e7ant la reconstruction de la synagogue Etz Hayyim (arbre de vie).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"syna2\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"4483fec4-9fa8-4ec8-8cb3-ea522330898d\" src=\"\/news555\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/image_64873272.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dans le jardin on peut voir les tombes de deux rabbins. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dans la cour, une jolie fontaine coule \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 d&rsquo;une plaque comm\u00e9morative.<\/p>\n<p>La synagogue a re\u00e7u en 2006 la visite de la reine Sophie d&rsquo;Espagne et la s\u0153ur de l&rsquo;ancien roi Constantin II de Gr\u00e8ce.<\/p>\n<p>En 2010, elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 la cible d&rsquo;un incendie criminel par un citoyen britannique.
