Mamili’s alleged driver in court
KATIMA MULILO – The driver of a Government vehicle which allegedly transported six secessionist leaders into Namibia last month, appeared before magistrate Hosea Noabeb here on Monday on charges of misusing Government property.
Joseph Muchali (30) did not plead and his case was postponed to August 10 for further investigation.
Muchali is accused of misusing Government property after he allegedly took an official vehicle from the Zambezi Vocational College in Caprivi to transport former NBC radio employee, Steven Mamili, and five others from their hideout in Botswana to Namibia.
At an earlier court appearance the accused denied having assisted the six men, currently reported to be detained in Lusaka, Zambia.
The six are alleged to be among the leaders of the Caprivi secessionist movement. Muchali is a member of the Mafwe Tribal Committee representing the Linyanti Traditional Authority. – Nampa
